Hello, I’m Bernadette Janson, founder of The School of Renovating. I’m keen to share my passion to build wealth with renovations. Empowering women to create a future of financial freedom is at the heart of what we do through our renovating courses and community of women renovators. I’m keen to support you to take control of your future, to express your passion for creating beautiful spaces. Today’s video is my friendly motivational prod to support you to take action to achieve your dreams.
- A passion for renovating can build your short- and long-term wealth
- Advice from a veteran renovator (me!) to keep your focus on taking action towards your dreams
- Going beyond your comfort zone to learn to make a profit from renovating
Have you been thinking about how to build wealth with renovations? And how to harness your passion for renovating to turn it into a profit-making machine so you can either quit your job, retire comfortably, or just make extra money?
I sincerely hope you will heed this advice, especially for women who are wanting to change their income and their life by renovating.
- You know you’ve got what it takes
- You know you have a passion for creating beautiful spaces
- You know if you get over the hurdles, you’ll be really good at it
Well, then you need to get your renovating machine going and at times it can all seem a little daunting, or scary, or doubts can arise.
Taking Decisive Action to Build Wealth with Renovations
In order to get extraordinary results, you need to take decisive action.
A challenge for us, particularly when we get into our 40s, 50s, even 60s, is we get into our comfort zone. So we’re cruising along. Life’s pretty good. And you’ve got that sort of niggling idea about what you want to do. This does require effort and you may feel you just don’t know whether you can do it.
If you want to build wealth with renovations you need to commit to making it happen. You need to take significant, decisive action. And it doesn’t take much, it takes maybe a couple of years to get over the hurdle, to get up to speed, to build your team, to get through your first project and to start to feel like you’ve got it nailed.
If you don’t take the first step, it’s just not going to happen.
Look at where you are now and decide, am I happy with this?
Otherwise, you spend your life living for what might be rather than in the moment with what is. And that can be a problem because you miss out on the joy of being in the moment.
So my ultimate advice is to first consider: are you willing to do what it takes to get the result you want to make the transition ‘over the river onto the other side’. Are you willing to get out of your comfort zone?
Unfortunately, comfort kills creativity, it kills motivation, it kills results. So you do need to make a break and put together a plan to build your wealth with renovations – and then start taking action. It’s not that hard. The challenge is to wrench yourself out of your comfort zone. (Listen to our podcast episode: Comfort kills dreams & what to do about it… )
When you do, then you’ll feel a massive sense of satisfaction.
Tony Robbins talks about what makes us happy…
While we’re aiming for a result, it’s not the result that makes us happy, it’s the progress.

So getting into action, taking the steps, and making incremental progress really leaps you forward and makes you feel inspired and accomplished. Success breeds success.
My advice is to get out of your comfort zone and get onto the court and start playing the game.
I hope you will join me and our community of passionate renovators to get the support you need for your journey to a life of freedom and fulfilment.
